I've been having my head up in the clouds of late. In a good way fortunately (:
I love my life and am relishing every nanosecond.
Attended Maksim's concert and was certainly wow-ed by his adept fingers that seem to be flying all over the place. That said, I've gotta admit that I've seen better. Awesome concert. But didn't satisfy the longing for a romantic, orchestral concert chock-full of emotions and lots of vibrato. Ayeeee. Guess the disappointment lies in having hoped too much that he'd play something more serious like Rachmaninoff's concerto no.2 :/ I'd die to go for a live concert with that repertoire, seriously!
Caught some chills and colds here and there in the past weeks. Vitamin C cured me of everything (: Had some bizarre dreams, one of which acted itself out a mere day later. Not cool. Unsettling? Very! Got out of the icky situation though. Lucky me.
Some rather impeccable nosh places for thought-
1. 15 Minutes Cafe
Braved some rainstorms with a fellow crazy woman to get there one late night after work. I'm glad we persevered in the quest to get there. Their Gnocchi was totally worth all that flu and sneezes that descended the morning after. I'm starting to fall in love with blue cheese (: Someone told me that to take a liking to it is and acquired taste and I'd have to agree with him. I did think it foul the very first time I laid tongue on it :/ Relish's got a delicious blue cheese burger and wings with blue cheese dips too. Guess the increase in frequency of my consuming it acquired me the taste pretty quickly...Yeps anyway, this blue cheese gnocchi has exactly the same taste as what I'm looking for in my desired mac and cheese. Maybe I can get em to change the gnocchi into mac next time (:
2. Highlander Coffee Bar and Cafe
Went for a second time, after blood donation. Still warm, snug and cosy as ever. Superb coffee sets the note for an excellent day! Try their, uhmm, foccacia sandwich kinda thing. A personal favourite (: Irish cream latte's also the best by far...
3. Cedele
I'm into sandwiches nowadays. They make me good sandwiches. I'm happy, they're happy (: Avocado chicken bacon sandwich (me thinks) is what I had previously. Feels healthy, fills the tummy and is yummy.
4. Marmalade Pantry
Crabmeat linguine! Very value for money, since the ladies get to dine here twenty percent off, after six from mondays to saturdays. The tomato sauce had a very delicate hint of herb-y somethings(think it could be parsley)that complemented the freshness of the crabmeat very well . I also loved how they had pine nuts scattered all over. Kinda conscious of eating healthy lately. Hehh! Served in ginormous portions that had to be shared between two (: Now I know where to satisfy the craving for good tomato-ish pastas.
5. Canelé Pâtisserie Chocolaterie
Mother brought me there for sunday brunch just as I was thinking that it's been extremely long since I had a chill time with her (: Club salmon! Yet another sandwich thingy that made me extremely delighted. All time favourite, Matcha, was wolfed down soon after. Finally managed to try their Earl Grey ice cream as well. The taste of Earl Grey was slightly overpowering, I liked it that way though, and it was surprisingly very smooth, creamy and rich. I half expected to get some icy scoop of thing that'd live up to my(very low)expectations but I was in for a treat! Unfortunately, the portion was wayy too massive. Almost died of a surfeit :/
6. Max Brenner Chocolate Bar
Last but def not the least- the chocolate bar! I've been wanting to go there since forever and finally finally I got to go just before Maksim (: Shared an Italian thick hot chocolate and a souffle with sis. The hug mugs are oh-so-adorable! I chose the dark choc for the drink, so you can imagine how immensely thick and "woahhhh" the taste got! True indulgence. To think that I was still nursing a sore throat and a few zits! The souffle was more like a warm chocolate cake, that ain't anywhere near Relish's, Taste Matters' or even the one we made at Palate Sensations :P No bragging here!
Been having a good mind to jot down these places since a few months back. Procrastinated till now. Well I hope that you'll enjoy your meals at these places as much as I do! Lap it all up! Bask in the joy of good company and scrumptious food (:
'tis, afterall, the season to be jolly!
